About Sam's Point

The Northern Shawangunks Mountains form a unique landscape of extraordinary ecological significance. It has been designated as one of our "Last Great Places" and a priority site for landscape-scale conservation. Sam's Point Preserve contains one of the best examples of a ridge top dwarf pine barrens in the world, providing spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains, Verkeerderkill Falls, and caves that shelter snow and ice well into the summer

Directions

Sam's Point Preserve is located off Route 52 between Pine Bush and Ellenville in the Hamlet of Cragsmoor.
Turn off Rt. 52 onto Cragsmoor Road.
Go 1 mile to the Cragsmoor Post Office.
Make a right in front of the post office.
Go a short distance and make a right onto Sam's Point Road for approximately 1 ¾ miles to the entrance of the preserve.
