About Sam's Point The Northern Shawangunks Mountains form a unique landscape of extraordinary ecological significance. It has been designated as one of our "Last Great Places" and a priority site for landscape-scale conservation. Sam's Point Preserve contains one of the best examples of a ridge top dwarf pine barrens in the world, providing spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains, Verkeerderkill Falls, and caves that shelter snow and ice well into the summer Directions Sam's Point Preserve is located off Route 52 between Pine Bush and Ellenville in the Hamlet of Cragsmoor. |
